With decades of know-how from extensive research and development, MIKASA has used feedback from the world's best players and coaches to develop a new beach volleyball based on state-of-the-art and environmentally friendly technology.

The new ball, officially named Beach Pro BV550C, is a construction of 10-perfectly balanced panel parts and a two-layer textile carcass on a double-layer "no-leak" butyl rubber bladder.

The colour contrast of the tricolour combination ensures excellent and even better visibility. In addition to the optical innovations, MIKASA also presents the tried and tested dimple technology, known from indoor volleyball, for the first time in beach volleyball with the BV550C. The many small depressions (dimples) on the surface material not only improve the grip, but also ensure maximum and sensitive ball control. The patented and unique TwinSTLock seam technology has been further improved to make the BV550C virtually waterproof. This should eliminate any increase in the weight of the ball when it rains. For even better durability and tightness of the ball, a new valve shape was developed. This is intended to prevent micro-sand from penetrating the air needle bushing and damage to the valve core. Mikasa has also placed great emphasis on sustainability in the use of materials. For example, the surface material is a high-quality synthetic leather made from recycled nylon. Furthermore, no solvent-based paints are used.

The Beach Pro BV550C bears the sole additional designation "FIVB Official Game Ball" and is thus the official game ball of the World Federation (FIVB) and Volleyball World (VW).
